Lillian Garcia introduces RAW’s General Manager, William Regal to the ring. Regal then announces that JBL, John Bradshaw Layfield, will be Orton’s opponent for Backlash. JBL comes out and offers to shake Orton’s hand, of course Orton declines his offer. After a little while, Triple H comes out.

Triple H yells at Regal trying to ask why the hell JBL, retired for 2 years and just come back is the new #1 contender. Triple H then says that Orton got lucky at Wrestlemania and got the win while he really didn’t beat anyone. Regal understands what he is on about and decides to announce a 2 on 1 handicap match for later tonight. Triple H Vs Randy Orton and JBL – If Triple H wins, it becomes a triple threat match at Backlash.

After the match, Cena comes out and announces a proposition. Backlash needs to be as big as possible, why not make it a fatal four way. In the end Regal agrees and announces for the Main Event it will be John Cena Vs Triple H and JBL – If John wins it will be a fatal four way match.
