The word going around the locker room is that Vickie Guerrero was only being paid $500 per appearance by WWE. On top of that, she had to cover her own hotel and road expenses.
Typically, talent on the main roster net a $75,000 downside guarantee at the very least, so her salary was drastically below even the lowest paid main roster performers in the company.
Some wrestlers are understandably fired up over this rumor, as the feeling is that the company could have done more to take care of a person who was such an integral part of WWE.
Although, it’s worth noting that WWE paid for Eddie Guerrero’s funeral and likely did more to help out Vickie financially than the locker room is aware of.

Former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson was interviewed by Kevin Eck of The Baltimore Sun to discuss her second place finish in NBC’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here and she had some interesting things to say regarding World Wrestling Entertainment. Highlights from the interview are as follows:
Whether having a snake on her face was worse than kissing Vince McMahon: “Oh, making out with Vince, for sure [laughs]. I’ll take the snake any day.”
Embarrassed over taking part in the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal: “I’m very mad at myself and embarrassed that I agreed to be a part of something like that. A lot of people in the audience didn’t even know that I was in that match because they didn’t even announce it. For me, that whole experience at WrestleMania was kind of like closure. I feel like maybe I’m not appreciated like I would have hoped. They just wanted all these girls there. Now I can understand why Trish [Stratus] decided not to do it; she was smart. Going into it I trusted them that they would use me in the right way and I should have known better. All in all, I learned a valuable lesson.”
Whether she thinks she’s done with professional wrestling: “I do. I just didn’t appreciate that experience and I felt very unappreciated after all of the years that I put in for them. You combine that with the fact that I asked them to do a little thing on wwe.com to “vote for Torrie” and they just ignored me. So, my feelings are hurt.”

– Roddy Piper was bailed out of jail earlier today on $5000 bond and will have to appear before a court in Los Angeles for his DUI charges on 7/23.
– BroadcastingAndCable.com ran an article today about how the FX Network, owned by Fox, wants to get in the cable ratings race and challenge USA Network and TNT for the ad-supported cable ratings leadership. The piece says that without getting a pro wrestling or a sports league, they won’t ever be able to compete. With all of SmackDown’s viewership troubles on WGN, you can bet WWE officials are salivating over this article, which you can read in it’s entirety at this link.

Francine sent out the following announcement today, stating that the Legends of the arena event was such a success that they will be to donate $6400 to cancer research: First of all, I want to thank all of the fans who showed up this past Saturday night for The Legends of the Arena show. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to meet all of you and to once again appear in front of the crowd who in my opinion, was always the greatest to work in front of. You guys and girls were hot from start to finish and the feedback has been awesome! I am so glad you all enjoyed yourselves! I really enjoyed meeting all of you. God Bless those who shared their cancer stories with me. It is a horrible disease and I pray every day that they find some kind of a cure. You are all in my prayers. I have to thank all the boys for participating. You were all amazing and without your help, there wouldn’t of been a show. I love you guys! Thanks for making this a success! Now, for those who are curious, this show cost way more then I ever expected. This was the first time I have ever done something like this, so I had no idea just how much things were going to cost. The main reason was to raise money for cancer research. Some of the boys did come in for free, but asked for trans. A lot of them either wanted their full pay or came in for a bit less. Some did it for half their price. I tried to give everyone something at the end of the night because I felt it was the right thing to do. I bought 14 plane tickets and paid for 13 hotel rooms for Friday and Saturday night. I had to pay for the building, catering, production, photos, security and hired help. We had 40 wrestlers there and the boys were allowed to bring their families and friends. That total came to 250 comps, which was no problem. I just wanted to have a great show and I wanted everyone to be happy. After all of the expenses, I am able to donate $6400 to cancer research. As I said in the ring the night of the show “If this money helps one person, then everything I’ve done for the last 5 months will be worth it”. So once again, thank you all for being a part of it and making it a success. Much love always. - Francine

HC Loc is said to be OK following the tough chairshot he took at the Legends of the Arena event on Saturday.
On Monday morning Mexico City police officers found Lucha Mini stars, La Parkita and Espectrito II (both of them were the originals), dead in their hotel rooms. Parkita (real Name Alberto Perez Jimenez) and Espectrito II (real name Alejandro Perez Jimenez) were brothers (also both were brothers of Espectrito I) and were only 35 years old. The police have released that Parkita & Espectriro checked into their hotels after a show on Sunday night and were approached by two prostitutes. The two women spiked the lucha stars drinks and after they passed out stole all of their possessions. The two overdosed on the drugs the prostitutes spiked their drinks with.
Police say that this M.O. matches that of a prostitute ring called “The Filtracion” (The Leak) who proposition men and then spike their drinks and then rob the men, but the spiked drinks usually don’t kill (probably because of their size, it killed them). The police have retrieved finger prints from the scene and are confident they will find the two responsible which I truly hope they do. La Parkita and Espectrito II were both 2 of the pioneers of the Lucha Mini resurgence in the 90’s as stars in both AAA and CMLL. Espectrito II has wrestled under many names and masks in his carer including Mini Mankind, Tarantula (while in the WWE shortly), and most recently as Guerrerito del Futuro. He lost his Espectrito mask to Octagoncito in 1997. La Parkita is considered by many to be one of of the best in-ring Minis in all of Lucha Libre and has been so for many years. Parkita has wrestled all over the world including Japan and the United States (most recently in CHIKARA Pro). Both had been wrestling on the INDY scene (mostly in Mexico City) recently wrestling for such groups as Los Bizarros, IWRG, Perros del Mal, and more. They will be missed. R.I.P.
